More than just a director and volunteer at THRIVE, Gail embodies the spirit of community service. She is also a hospice care volunteer, offering a compassionate ear, and ensuring the voices of those nearing life’s end are heard and valued. In addition, she devotes countless hours to various outreach programs in her community. She is a force for good and a relentless advocate.
Facing a breast cancer diagnosis nearly a decade ago, she did not let it define her. Instead, she discovered her true calling – supporting others on similar journeys. Discovering that the sharing of experiences was empowering and transformative, Gail developed a nurturing approach to navigating the anxieties of a cancer diagnosis, and the complexities of treatment. Her calming presence became a beacon of hope for her family and friends, and for the community she served.
Gail has a wealth of academic and practical experience that she brings to THRIVE. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education as well as a master’s degree in School Counseling. In addition, she has earned certifications in Level 1 Reiki & Healing Touch and completed the CT Regional Hospice Training.
Gail, and her beloved husband Tony, are both retired teachers. Leaving the lesson plans behind, they moved to Newtown, CT to be closer to their daughter Casey, son-in-law Ryan, and their cherished grandchildren, Riley and Jake. Their beloved furry companion, Nelly, completes the family portrait.
Inspired by Eckhart Tolle’s teachings, Gail lives in the present moment, accepting “what is” and finding serenity in the now. This “north star mindset” empowers her to radiate positivity and guide others with unwavering compassion. In her self-care routine, she regularly practices yoga, Pilates, tai chi, and qigong, as well as taking long and invigorating walks. These activities help fuel her passion for uplifting others.
